Jente Azou studied German and English at Ghent University and Goethe Universität (Frankfurt am Main) and literary studies at KU Leuven. She wrote her MA dissertation about memory in the works of W.G. Sebald and Esther Kinsky.
She is currently working as a doctoral researcher at the Johannes Gutenberg Universität (Mainz/Germersheim). Her PhD is supervised by Prof. Dr. Alison Martin and focuses on the depiction of space in 18th and early 19th century Western European travelogues on Africa. Her research interests include travel writing, memory studies and ecocriticism.
