Evgeny Kazartsev is a Visiting Fellow at the Department of Literary Studies at Ghent University. His research investigates the genesis and spread of syllabo-tonic verse prosody in Dutch poetry of the second half of the 16th – beginning of the 17th century and its spread to the German verse in the 17th century. He studied Russian Philology, German and Comparative Linguistics in 1990-1995 at St. Petersburg State University, German Literature and Language in 1996-1998 at Bremen University, and Dutch Philology at Leiden University in 2004-2005. In 2001-2002 he did his PhD at Linguistics Department of St. Petersburg University. In 2006-2007 he conducted post-doctoral research at Institute for German and Dutch Philology at Free University Berlin (granted by A. von Humboldt Foundation) and in 2007-2008 he conducted a post-doctoral fellowship at the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study.
