Mike Keirsbilck is a pre-doc researcher at Ghent University. He executes part of the FWO research project “Early Modern Theater and Governmentality (Foucault): Three Vondel Plays Reconsidered”. After finishing his BA at the theater and film school RITS Brussels, he studied Art History and Comparative Literature at Ghent University. His PhD-project combines his love for the theater and his interest in literary theory and political and religious philosophy. The project focuses on three plays by the Dutch playwright Joost van den Vondel – Palamedes oft Vermoorde Onnozelheid (1625), Gijsbrecht van Aemstel (1637) and Lucifer (1654) – which will be analyzed in the light of Michel Foucault’s notion of ‘governmentality’.
